Steph Curry’s Underrated Golf Tour comes to Notre Dame in the summer

Steph Currey, four-time NBA Champion and two-time MVP, revealed on X, officially known as Twitter, Tuesday afternoon that the Underrated Golf Tour will stop at the University of Notre Dame’s Warren Golf Course from July 22 to 24.

Season three of the US Underrated Golf Tour will kick-off at the Old Barnwell Golf Course in Aiken, S.C., June 21-23, and stop at a total of four courses around the country, including Pumpkin Ridge Ghost Creek Golf Club in Portland, Ore., July 8-10, and TPC San Antonio in Texas, August 7-9.

“Golf has always been one of the most powerful vehicles to spark professional and social conversations,” Curry stated. “We are lucky to collaborate with our amazing partners at KPMG who work with our Underrated Golf team to design engaging programs and opportunities for our junior golfers.”

According to the tour’s website, at each U.S. stop, 96 athletes will compete in tournament-style events and team building activities while networking with college golf coaches and executives.

The circuit provides many young golfers with their first opportunity to play on an established professional course, and 24 of the top boys and girls will eventually emerge from the tour to compete for the Curry Cup at the Underrated circuit Championship at the end of the season.

“For the very first time ever, the Curry Cup will take place outside of the Bay Area and will move to The Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, NJ, September 2-5,” according to the website.

The tour’s organizers describe underappreciated as an inspiring lifestyle brand with a mission to inspire underappreciated and underrepresented people all across the world.

“With a passion for celebrating the underdog, Underrated echoes this message across three main categories including experiences, media and physical product,” according to the business.

Steph Curry founded the company in 2019 based on his personal experience as an overlooked three-star athlete in high school who was always overshadowed by his teammates.

“Each year, we set out to provide underrepresented individuals access to the game who have never had it before, along with invaluable opportunities and benefits that come with the game of golf,” Curry stated. “However, Underrated Golf is far more than just a sport. This unique curriculum promotes off-course activities such as specific lectures on a variety of disciplines, with an emphasis on corporate ethics, as well as various job options in the golf industry and beyond.

Organizers say Mariah Stackhouse, an LPGA Tour player, will be the brand’s ambassador for the U.S. Tour, hosting the KPMG Leadership Day at the season-ending Curry Cup.

According to the organization, Stackhouse’s off-the-course initiatives have focused on improving the diversity pipeline in competitive junior golf and encouraging young athletes to become leaders both on and off the course.

“The experience at Curry Cup and the KPMG Leadership Development Day last year was special” , stated Stackhouse. “Underrated encompasses so much more than golf. It’s about a common aim of empowering the next generation in meaningful ways by transmitting the crucial success aspects that go into winning, well beyond what you see in the final score. I’m pleased to be a part of this family, alongside Steph and my KPMG colleagues, and I’m excited to help Underrated grow even more this year.”
