Garnacho, Bruno Fernandes, and Diogo Dalot were honoured as Manchester United’s top three players of the season

Bruno Fernandes has been named our Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year, and we’ve created this graphic to celebrate.

Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United’s captain, has been named the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year for 2023/24 by Adidas.

Despite suffering an unusual injury, our number eight finished the season strongly and was a big influence on Erik ten Hag’s team throughout the campaign.

For the second year in a row, he generated more chances than any other Premier League player and was joint-top scorer for the Reds with Rasmus Hojlund.

The Portugal international has 15 goals in all competitions, one behind Hojlund’s 16, and eight assists in the league, more than any of his teammates combined.

Fernandes also had the hottest streak of his United career, scoring in five straight games, ending with a double against Sheffield United last month.

He was named Player of the Month twice this season, in August and April, and was nominated three more times.

This is the third time our captain has won the coveted trophy since joining the Reds from Sporting Club in 2020.

Only David De Gea and Cristiano Ronaldo have won the yearly award more frequently, both four times.

Manchester United’s first-team squad has selected Diogo Dalot as the Players’ Player of the Year for the 2023/24 season.

In a difficult season, the Portuguese defender has been a bright spot, maintaining personal consistency despite our shifting results.

Dalot’s technical talent has been evident since joining the club from Porto in June 2018, when he was only 19 years old, but this has been accompanied by an increase in physical strength.

In an injury-plagued season for the club, no outfield player has surpassed Diogo’s 49 appearances to date, and his versatility on both wings has been a huge help for Erik ten Hag.

Perhaps his best all-around performance came in the Emirates FA Cup’s resounding 4-3 victory over Liverpool, when he was excellent in both offence and defence for 120 minutes.

Alejandro Garnacho won our Goal of the Season award, so we created this graphic to celebrate.

The Manchester United Goal of the Season award for 2023/24, given by Tezos, was won by Alejandro Garnacho’s spectacular overhead strike against Everton.

The 19-year-old’s incredible piece of talent, which came fewer than three minutes into United’s win at Goodison Park in November, was the talk of the global football, with many observers claiming it could be the finest goal scored in the Premier League history.

Alejandro’s incredible performance on Merseyside received 74% of the vote, leaving little hope for the other first-teamers nominated.

The Premier League has yet to reveal the recipient of their prize, but Alejandro must be a strong contender.

Garnacho’s goal was “good enough to win the league, the cup, the Charity Shield, the World Cup, and even the Grand National!” to paraphrase the late, great pundit Kenneth Wolstenholme, who famously described a Bobby Charlton cracker.
