Despite being left out of Gareth Southgate’s squad, Marcus Rashford appears in M&S’ England formalwear range for Euro 2024, which debuted this summer.
Rashford has struggled this season, scoring only eight goals across all competitions, and he has also been plagued by disciplinary difficulties.
This resulted in the forward being dropped from Southgate’s preliminary 33-man England squad, which was released on Tuesday.
Rashford, on the other hand, has been named to M&S’ England team after featuring alongside Aaron Ramsdale and Conor Gallagher in photos of the Three Lions’ off-field attire in Germany.
The trio models a collection that includes overshirts, blouson coats, a quarter zip knit jumper and straight-leg pants.
Marcus Rashford has appeared in the publication of M&S’ England formalwear collection for Euro 2024.
This comes despite the Manchester United star being left out of Gareth Southgate’s provisional roster.
Rashford appeared in the release alongside team-mates Conor Gallagher and Aaron Ramsdale.
It is expected that the shoot took done before Southgate announced his selection on Tuesday.
It is likely that the shoot took place before Southgate’s selection announcement, as Rashford has been a major element of the England manager’s plans since taking over in 2016, scoring 17 goals in 60 appearances.
Rashford seemed natural in the M&S release, which is understandable given his previous experience in the fashion industry.
In 2020, he featured on the cover of Vogue, and he has also visited fashion shows and worked on a Burberry advertisement.
England’s informal off-field apparel reflects a recent trend shift. Traditionally, teams would wear suits to tournaments, such as during Euro 2020, when England was photographed in navy blue suits, but the 2022 World Cup was more informal.
In Qatar, the M&S collection included blue short trousers, casual jackets, and cream knitwear.
The formalwear assortment comprises overshirts, a quarter zip knit jumper and straight-leg trousers.
Rashford has underperformed this season, while he has also been plagued by disciplinary concerns.
Meanwhile, Southgate will announce his final 27-man team on June 8, with a snapshot of England’s squad wearing M&S designs to be unveiled on June 10.
The formalwear range, which includes a Three Lions England emblem on the inside of coats and overshirts, is available for purchase on the M&S website, with individual items priced between £40 and £60.
