It’s only natural to open the champagne after winning the Premier League, but for the five-year-old son of Manchester City’s great midfielder Phil Foden, the cork proved too difficult.
Photographers captured the lovely moment toddler Ronnie Foden tries – unsuccessfully – to participate in the celebrations after Manchester City won an unprecedented fourth Premier League title in a row.
The Sky Blues stormed to victory, defeating West Ham 3-1.
At the final whistle, exuberant fans flooded the turf at the Etihad Stadium, and flares were set off outside pubs as City won their sixth league title in seven seasons.
Arsenal’s chances of winning their first Premier League title since the Gunners’ Invincible season in 2003/04 were dashed after a remarkable unbeaten run of 23 games, as Mikel Arteta’s team fell two points short.
While the players hugged and waved to the spectators in the stadium, tiny Ronnie, dressed in his Manchester City uniform, was down on the pitch, attempting to take the cork out.
He even shoved the bottle to the ground at one point, but despite his best attempts, the cork remained in place – which is probably for the best given that he’s 13 years too young to legally drink.
Ronnie had already clutched his talented father’s hand as Phil Foden, 23, came from the tunnel at the start of the exciting match.
Following the final whistle, he was spotted standing happily next to the winners’ trophy, along with his England player father, mother Rebecca Cooke, and younger sister True.
Last month, the Manchester City player and his childhood sweetheart revealed they are expecting their third child together.
Ronnie, who is only five years old, has become a social media star, with four million Instagram followers and his own millionaire status.
The eldest child of England player has a talent manager who secures brand collaborations for the account, which is controlled by his parents.
The youngster has joined with Propel Talent Group, a company that claims to manage ‘the careers of some of the UK’s most sought after talent,’ with a concentration on ‘digital talent.’
While some of the photographs on Ronnie’s account are sweet photos of him on the football ground with his famous father, others show the cute child standing on his own in fashionable attire.
The verified Instagram account features Ronnie appearing in images with a variety of labeled firms, including ethical clothing brand Little Bird and Manchester-based boutique The Couture Club.
According to Influencer Marketing Hub, Instagram accounts with more than one million followers are classified as’mega-influencers’ and can receive up to £10,000 per post for a cooperation, whereas major celebrity accounts can earn up to £1 million.
Ronnie’s parents created the account after a meme of the little one, nicknamed ‘El Wey’ or ‘The Dude’, went popular following Manchester City’s Champions League victory against Inter Milan in Istanbul last June.
He became the team’s unofficial mascot thanks to adorable images of him with his father on the field and a selfie with Erling Haaland in the locker room.
He was atop Foden’s shoulders when Jack Grealish led Rodri in a singalong to Gala’s 1990s dance classic Freed from Desire in an online video.
‘His personality has defined who he is. I believe he went really viral after [we] won the Champions League. “He reminds me of myself as a kid, and he’s very funny,” Foden previously told Sky Sports News.
