JUVENTUS is interested in recruiting Mason Greenwood from Manchester United, according to sources.
The 22-year-old attacker has spent the season on loan at Getafe in La Liga.
Greenwood has not played for Manchester United since January 2022, following charges of attempted гɑрe, controlling and coercive behaviour, and violence, which were later withdrawn in February 2023.
The United academy graduate was loaned away last summer but will still have a year left on his contract at the end of the season.
Ineos, which purchased a 27.7% share in the Red Devils earlier this season, has not ruled out bringing Greenwood back into the fold at Old Trafford next season.
However, United’s management appears to want to cash in on Greenwood this summer if they believe they are getting a reasonable price.
According to The Times, Juventus hopes to sign Greenwood this summer.
The Italian side has had another disappointing season by their lofty standards, finishing third in Serie A, 24 points behind leaders Inter Milan.
Juve are the latest prospective suitor to emerge, following Barcelona and Atletico Madrid’s links.
Getafe, meanwhile, would like to keep Greenwood next season.
Manager Jose Bordalas remarked of Greenwood’s future before their weekend encounter against Almeria: “We haven’t spoken about it yet. He is in the same condition as the other loanees.
“When the season ends, it will be time to get to work and see if Mason will be able to stay another year.
“It will depend on his club and the decision he makes.”
Greenwood achieved a new career milestone in Getafe’s 3-1 victory over Almeria on Saturday.
He scored twice and set up another for Jaime Mata, bringing his LaLiga total to eight goals and six assists in 28 games.
This is his greatest combined tally in a season, surpassing his previous best of 10 goals and one assist in the Premier League in 2019-20.
