Michael Olise would consider a summer transfer to Manchester United if the Red Devils confirmed their interest in him, according to reports.
The 22-year-old has struggled with injuries this season, but he has consistently been one of Crystal Palace’s finest performers when he is available.
According to 90min, Olise was a transfer target for United this summer, since he was admired by both the old and new regimes at Old Trafford once Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS joined.
The Red Devils could change numerous players at the end of the season. Forward Anthony Martial’s contract will expire, winger Antony could be sold, and midfielder Christian Eriksen’s future is uncertain, and a versatile player like Olise could assist fill the creative hole left by some or all of these departures.
90min understands that if United stepped up their interest, Olise would be eager to join the club.
Despite claims to the contrary, insiders have told 90min that Chelsea has no plans to revive their interest in Olise and will not compete with United for his signature this summer.
Last summer, Olise signed a new contract with Palace after the club threatened Chelsea with legal action. The Blues believed they had triggered a convoluted £35 million release clause in his previous contract, but this was not the case, so they backed away from a move, instead turning to Cole Palmer.
The Frenchman’s new deal is expected to have a release clause worth between £50 million and £60 million. However, like with his last contract, the condition remains legally problematic, and Palace are not yet prepared to lose him.
Chelsea believes they are well-stocked in Olise’s core positions, thanks in large part to Palmer’s success, and are focusing on strengthening in other areas.
