Here are our player ratings from Liverpool’s humiliating 2-0 Premier League defeat against Everton.
Alisson Becker: 7
Couldn’t do much about either goal, but did well with the first. Everton was first shut out thanks to a fantastic save.
Trent Alexander-Arnold: 4
Some fantastic passing in the first half raises his rating, but then it just… stops. Alexander-Arnold contributed little to nothing in the second half.
Ibrahima Konaté: 2.
Struggled to cope with Everton in the air, committed some dumb fouls, and was justifiably replaced by Jarell Quansah in a straight swap. One of his poorest performances while wearing the Liverpool shirt.
Virgil Van Dijk: 3
This was also one of his absolute worst. Van Dijk won nothing in the air and failed to command things like he often does. When even he is struggling, you realize it’s a poor situation.
Andy Robertson: 4
A higher grade than others since Robertson’s runs were very exceptional. However, he did hardly nothing with the ball.
Alexis MacAllister: 3.
Stupid fouls, ineffective passes – we’re not sure where the guy from a month ago went.
Dominik Szoboszlai: 4
Had several terrific moments, and many of his runs were solid. In the end, he simply did not do enough to get things done.
Curtis Jones: 4
Essentially, the same as above. Jones was far too slow on the ball at times, and his positive moments were few and far between.
Mohamed Salah: 1
A truly awful performance. He was rarely involved, and when he was, he squandered opportunities. Then came the kicker: giving the ball away, which led to Everton’s second goal.
Darwin Nunez: 2
You can put up with Nunez’s peculiarities when he’s performing magic. This wasn’t it, and it hasn’t been in a while. Awful.
Luis Diaz: 7
Unfortunately, he did not score because his shot hit the post. Could have had one in the first half, too, albeit after a tricky finish. Easily the most spectacular Liverpool outfield player.
Subs
We’ll just group all the substitutes together here. When they came on, the game felt dead, with Liverpool struggling to establish any forward momentum and failing to keep Everton at bay. To be honest, scoring them feels unattainable.
Harvey Elliott: As stated above.
Wataru Endo: As above.
Jarell Quansah: As above.
Joe Gomez: As above.
Kostas Tsimikas: As said above.
