Could Golden State Warriors veteran point guard Chris Paul end up as a San Antonio Spur? It is undoubtedly on the table, according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line. The reporter previously stated on his Substack newsletter that CP3 could be headed to Texas in free agency if the Dubs opt to end their connection this offseason.
According to Stein, Paul has “expressed interest in returning after an unexpected season as a Warrior,” but if Paul and the Warriors part ways, the Spurs could be a team to watch. “The Spurs could emerge as a Paul suitor if they decide to pursue some veteran know-how on a short-term contract basis to furnish presumptive Rookie of the Year winner Victor Wembanyama with more seasoned help in Year 2,” Stein writes in the article.
Not quite the Chris Paul of old, the veteran floor general averaged 9.2 points and 5.8 assists per game with Golden State this season as a reserve.
