‘TOP GEA’ – David de Gea, 33, ‘lined up for free transfer to La Liga giants’ after a year unemployed as he was spotted in Spain

David de Gea, a Manchester United legend, is being sought by Real Betis ahead of the summer transfer season after going a year without a club.

De Gea, 33, departed United in June after his contract expired after 12 years at Old Trafford, during which he won every domestic honour possible.

The goalkeeper was instantly connected with a number of suitors, including Betis and Real Madrid, but his pay demands were too high for all possibilities, and he has spent the entire season as a free agent.

According to Estadio Deportivo, the La Liga heavyweights intend to make another proposal for the former Spain international in June.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side is to contact De Gea’s representatives about his predicament.

It is thought that the Spain star will have to decrease his expectations due to his senior age and the fact that he has been out of the game for a year.

The former Premier League player would also like to settle in Spain, and his family is receptive to the full-time move.

Betis will need a new goalkeeper because Claudio Bravo has turned 41 and is on his way out.

Rui Silva has also earned a number of suitors following a string of strong performances at Benito Villamarin Stadium.

Silva’s contract runs until 2026, but Serie A clubs are circling, and Betis is open to discussions.

In addition to De Gea, the Spanish team includes additional possible goalkeepers.

And one among them is Barcelona goalkeeper Inaki Pena, who could become available due to his club’s financial difficulties.

De Gea made 545 appearances at United, keeping 190 clean sheets and conceding 590 goals.

The Spaniard won the Premier League Golden Glove last season for keeping the most clean sheets in England’s top tier.
