Stephen Curry’s career is coming to an end, and the Golden State Warriors need all the support they can get. If things don’t go their way, they may make some severe decisions. Karl-Anthony Towns, the Minnesota Timberwolves big man, would be an ideal candidate for a major adjustment.
In an April 2 story, Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report proposed the following four-way deal, which would send Town to the Warriors.
Hawks obtain Draymond Green, D’Angelo Russell, Jalen Hood-Schifino, and Wendell Moore Jr. 2029 Lakers’ first-round pick in 2021 (top-five protected)
Bailey discussed how Towns may potentially raise their ceiling.
“This trade may not ensure the Warriors’ return to the top tier, but it will bring them closer while also making the starting five younger. Curry, Thompson (if re-signed) or Brandin Podziemski, Andrew Wiggins (unless he can find another home), a floor-spacing 4 in Rui Hachimura, and an All-Star center in Karl-Anthony Towns.”
He also explained Towns’ attractiveness to the Golden State.
“:It may take some time for Towns to adjust to the Warriors’ ball- and player-movement-heavy strategy, but he has shown signs of playmaking potential. In the four seasons before this one, he averaged 4.2 assists per game. And the outside shooting potential of lineups featuring Curry and KAT would be off the charts.”
Towns will begin his four-year, $221 million contract with the Timberwolves in 2024.
Karl-Anthony Towns Could Return for the Playoffs: Report
Shams Charania of The Athletic reported on The Pat McAfee Show that Towns may return for the playoffs.
“He’s out with a torn meniscus, but there is hope he’ll be back by the end of the regular season, which is good news for the Timberwolves,” Charania said on April 2, according to McAfee’s X account.
On March 7, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on his X account that Towns had suffered a meniscus injury.
If Towns returns, he may meet the Warriors in the first round. The Timberwolves would have home-court advantage, but the Warriors would have postseason experience. At the same time, the Warriors would need to first get through the play-in round.
Kendrick Perkins urges the Warriors to trade Draymond Green.
The former NBA champion was not pleased with Green’s theatrics after he was booted from the Warriors’ game against the Magic. On the March 29 episode of “First Take on ESPN,” Perkins discussed why he believes it is better for the Warriors to split company with Green.
“It’s time for the Warriors to part ways with Draymond Green,” Perkins said in a statement. “Mike Dunleavy, Joe Lacob, Steve Kerr, and Steph Curry will have that difficult conversation in the offseason. Because once someone reveals who they are, you must believe them.”
Perkins went on to say that he believes the Warriors had gotten tired of Green’s antics, which began when he punched Jordan Poole in 2022.
“When the Jordan Poole incident happened, Curry and Kerr had Draymond Green’s back,” Perkins went on to say. “Then, this year, what he did with [Jusuf] Nurkic, Steph Curry once again got his back. “Steve Kerr had his back.”
“Now, Steph Curry is exhausted.” Golden State’s fanbase is weary. Steve Kerr is exhausted—and justifiably so. “Draymond Green will not change.”
