Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United held Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool to a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Liverpool hopes to overcome Arsenal and Manchester City to the Premier League title this season, but Manchester United is unlikely to finish higher than fifth place.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were favourites going into the match at Old Trafford, but the Merseyside club needed a late penalty from Mohamed Salah to salvage a draw.

United trailed 1-0 at halftime, but Erik ten Hag’s side rallied and led 2-1 midway through the second half.

While the Red Devils were not at their peak, they still posed a threat to Liverpool. While the Merseyside club had numerous scoring opportunities, they failed to capitalize.

Kobbie Mainoo was one of United’s standout performers against Liverpool at Old Trafford, and Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer have both praised him.

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker and BBC Match of the Day broadcaster Lineker has compared Mainoo to Real Madrid and England international player Jude Bellingham.

Newcastle United great Shearer has described Mainoo, 18, as an incredible talent.

Mainoo, a Manchester United midfielder, has been likened to Jude Bellingham by Lineker on The Rest is Football podcast. Lineker praised Mainoo’s performance and post-match interview, noting that he will be 19 in a few weeks.

“I mean, he’s so clever and smart, measured and confident, and his demeanor is very similar to Jude Bellingham’s.

“I know players are probably coached a little bit in that area these days, but to be that natural and that confident and mature at such a tender age I think is so impressive.”

Shearer said of Mainoo on The Rest is Football podcast: “Do you know what I love? I enjoyed how he celebrated after scoring. It was like, ‘Look at me, look how cool I am’.

“I mean, the entire world was looking at him during the game, but you wouldn’t know. Has he taken everything in stride? He is just b****y good. What a skill! I mean, proper talent. Incredible.”

Kobbie Mainoo is a young Manchester United star.

In my opinion, Kobbie Mainoo is one of the best young midfielders in the world and a budding star for Manchester United.

Mainoo is only 18, but he has already established himself as a key member in United’s midfield.

Mainoo started with Casemiro in United’s holding midfield against Liverpool. The kid scored for the Red Devils midway through the second half.

This season, the midfielder has scored twice in 17 Premier League games for Ten Hag’s team.
