MAN UNITED PLAYER RATINGS: Mason Mount reignites Red Devils career, but Lisandro Martinez seems to be half the player following a knee injury

The late show saw Manchester United abandon what was set to be a smash-and-grab for the ages.

The Red Devils were significantly off the pace against Brentford, but they still managed to depart the city with a 1-1 draw.

Manchester United believed they had won with a late goal.

Brentford recovered quickly to tie the game. Erik ten Hag’s team appeared to be disrupted by the international break, but Brentford dominated the game for the majority of it.

But travelling United fans thought the lengthy trek south was worthwhile when the lesser-known Mason Mount scored in the 96th minute to put them ahead 1-0.

However, when fans’ pulses were racing with excitement, their hearts were dashed when Kristoffer Ajer scored moments later up the other end, resulting in a 1-1 tie.

United would certainly feel fortunate to have left with a point after facing an assault of efforts from Thomas Frank’s side over the course of 90 minutes.

They were a shadow of the club who somehow defeated Liverpool 4-3 in the FA Cup before the break, but they managed to avoid dropping all three points despite their poor effort.

SunSport’s Jordan Davies graded each Manchester United player’s performance.

Andre Onana – 7

Had to be quick to tip a furious Mathias Jensen shot wide from a tight position, but was relieved to see Ivan Toney’s scuffed effort rebound off his right-hand post and Zanka’s header skim the top of the bar. Got down brilliantly to stop Kean Lewis-Potter’s header.

Continued to keep United in the game after the break with a superb double save on Yehor Yarmoliuk and Lewis-Potter as Brentford bombed his goal.

Andre Onana faced numerous shots during the game, while Diogo Dalot saved a Bees counter-attack as Yarmoliuk raced in. However, he was clumsy with the ball.

Victor Lindelof – 6.

With a well-timed interception, he denied Toney a six-yard tap-in, but then let him go moments later, sabotaging a glorious one-on-one opportunity.

In the 68th minute, he hobbled off with what appeared to be a hamstring injury.

Manchester United could be without Victor Lindelof for a spell because he hobbled off with an injury.

Raphael Varane – 5.

Produced a critical block in front of Lewis-Potter’s half-volley inside the box, but was nutmegged by Yoane Wissa as Toney went through and hit the inside of the post.

Was substituted at halftime, most likely due to an injury.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka had a rating of 4 for being run-ragged and frequently caught out of position when watching the ball. Brentford’s spectacular late equaliser was played with everyone onside.

Scott McTominay – 5

Pretty anonymous. Brentford’s five-man midfield gave them the runaround, leaving them unsure whether to press or stick.

Kobbie Mainoo – 6

He showed signs of coolness on the ball and even attempted a Balotelli-esque shoulder pass, but he spent the majority of the night chasing shadows.Có thể là hình ảnh về 5 người, mọi người đang chơi bóng bầu dục, mọi người đang chơi bóng đá và văn bản

Bruno Fernandes – 6

Set Marcus up early with a great long ball that resulted in him pulling a shot wide, then was caught napping by Jensen in his own box, almost leading to a goal.

Almost set up Rasmus Hojlund for a second-half goal, but he wandered yards offside.

Captain Bruno Fernandes had several sharp moments.

Marcus Rashford – 5.

Crowded out when attempting to force an opening on the edge of the box, and were lethargic on the counter when United required more energy and impetus.

Alejandro Garnacho – 6

Aside from one poor header wide, the Argentine failed to establish himself in the first half, diving deeper and deeper to get on the ball.Có thể là hình ảnh về 2 người, mọi người đang chơi bóng bầu dục, mọi người đang chơi bóng đá, giày đinh và văn bản

Was dragged away just before the hour mark.

Rasmus Hojlund – 5

Spent the early stages being manhandled by Brentford’s beast of a back three, and struck a very frustrated figure due to a lack of service.

His initial attempt at goal was superbly saved by Mark Flekken but would not have counted. That was the best he could get.

Rasmus Hojlund had little to go off in the game.

HARRY MAGUIRE (VARANE, 46) – 6

Brought on to restore calm, but few defenders in this United side are capable of doing so. Looked edgy and rusty, but at least had some physicality.

ANTONY (GARNACHO, 58) – 6

A couple strokes to establish himself, then a curled beauty went agonizingly wide.

LISANDRO MARTINEZ (LINDELOF, 68) – 4Có thể là hình ảnh về 3 người, mọi người đang chơi bóng bầu dục, mọi người đang chơi bóng đá và văn bản

He appears to be only half the player he was prior to his knee injury. A weird toe-poked clearing directly to Toney should have given the Bees the lead.

And then, just as United had an unlikely winner, he let Toney glide around him in the box and set up Kristoffer Ajer for a well-deserved equaliser.

Lisandro Martinez struggled to adjust following a knee injury.

CASEMIRO (MAINOO, 79) – 6

His first throw was errant, and his first tackle was for the man rather than the ball, encapsulating his impact on this squad right now, even though he did assist Mason Mount’s opener.

MASON MOUNT (RASHFORD, 1979) – 8

What a moment for him, and how beneficial this may be to his United career. He seized his one chance in injury time beautifully, going completely against the flow of play.

Mason Mount has proclaimed his return with a goal.
