Draymond Green praises LeBron James’ IQ and claim on Dubs’ 2022 title win over Celtics

Draymond Green took to his podcast The Draymond Green Show to respond to LeBron James’ evaluation of the 2022 NBA Finals between the Warriors and Celtics. LeBron James and JJ Redick discussed a variety of issues in the inaugural edition of their new podcast Mind The Game. According to James, the Warriors’ victory over Boston was propelled by their basketball IQ.

“There are moments in the game that a coach, film, or history cannot prepare you for. You must have a basketball IQ to make immediate adjustments.I feel Golden State’s victory against Boston in the Finals came down to IQ. Because, in my opinion, Boston had the best talent. Boston possessed the greater talent. But it boiled down to IQ. People say, “Experience -IQ.”

Green agreed with James that the Warriors had tremendous basketball IQ in how they made adjustments to power them to victory. However, Green believes that another aspect contributed to their triumph.

“To some extent, this is correct. I believe we had a higher IQ at the time. But I believe we had more than simply a better IQ; we also had a greater IQ in the present. When you get into the playoffs, especially the NBA Finals, the lights can get a little brighter than you expect. So, I believe our basketball IQ was higher, but also at that time, our coaching staff’s basketball IQ was higher, and the changes that we made during that series made all the difference.”

The Warriors’ incredible comeback in Game 4 of that Finals series exemplifies what LeBron James and Draymond Green are saying. The Celtics led the series 2-1, and it appeared like as the game progressed, they would eventually pull away and lead 3-1. However, the Warriors were led by Steph Curry, who scored 43 points and made seven three-pointers to turn the course of the series.
