Online fan video of Scott McTominay responding to Manchester United’s thrilling 4-3 victory against Liverpool has surfaced, and fans have deduced what he said.
McTominay, Antony, Marcus Rashford, and Amad Diallo’s last-minute winner gave United an afternoon to remember and guaranteed their spot in the FA Cup semi-finals.
With a strike that caused chaos at Old Trafford, Diallo—who has previously expressed his dissatisfaction about his lack of first-team playing time this season—bested Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.
Referee John Brooks blew the full-time whistle shortly after the Ivorian’s game-winning goal, and the home crowd, numbering in the thousands, let out a loud yell in celebration.
With nine goals this season, McTominay is United’s second-highest scorer. He also celebrated the moment by giving goalkeeper Andre Onana a hug.
As he celebrated, supporters of Liverpool believe the Scotland international sent a not-so-subtle message in their direction.
One said: “Scott McTominay saying you to the Liverpool fans and Andre Onana giving it back after he (no doubt) copped it all second half and in extra time. Love that, these videos are so good.”
A second wrote: “McTominay with a cheeky ” to Liverpool fans. You love to see it,” while a third commented: “He’s a true Mancunian.”
A fourth added: “McTominay not holding back on the scousers after the game winning goal.”
After the full-time whistle, former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane praised McTominay for his assist in extra-time.
Speaking to ITV, he said: “The key here is the weight of the pass [from McTominay] It has to be perfect.
“Rashford is only going to get a one-touch finish. It looks so simple but we saw Liverpool get it wrong.”
“The first 35 minutes, we showed again that the future of this team is very bright,” he said.
“There is huge potential. We have to get it out and get consistency. The first 35 minutes was very pleasing. They are great characters and the determination we see again.
“Players who are developing and progressing very well, like [Diogo] Dalot, Kobbie [Mainoo] again today, [Alejandro] Garnacho. I can mention more players who did fantastic. A very good job and you can see the potential.
