Man Utd player ratings: Scott McTominay greatest player on the pitch once again, while Bruno Fernandes a peripheral figure

SCOTT MCTOMINAY’S performance stood out as Manchester United stormed into the FA Cup semi-finals.

The midfielder opened the scoring as the Red Devils defeated Liverpool in extra time during a seven-goal thriller at Old Trafford.

Scott McTominay (right) was once again the finest player on the field for Manchester United.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Marcus Rashford, who equalised during the extra 30 minutes, were also standouts for the home team.

Meanwhile, both Antony and Amad Diallo had an impact off the bench.

Here’s how SunSport’s Neil Custis ranked the United players.

Andre Onana – 6

It would be unfair to blame him for any of the goals conceded, two of which resulted from deflections. Made some solid saves.

Diogo Dalot – 5

Liverpool had an easy time getting down his flank. They seemed to have identified him as a weak link.

Victor Lindelof – 6.

Surprisingly, he retained his spot ahead of the fit again Harry Maguire, who you suspect would have fared better when late disarray arose in the first half. When Maguire entered the game midway through the second half, he was moved to full-back.

Raphael Varane – 6.

Despite his experience, he fails to organise the back four adequately. He appears to be spending his final days at Old Trafford.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 8

After recovering from an injury, he was chosen to play left back. He demonstrated what United had been missing in terms of linking up play with the midfield and attack.

Scott McTominay – 8

United’s standout player on the pitch. Getting sunk in all over the park and demonstrating his goal-scoring instincts, he scores his ninth of the season.

Kobbie Mainoo – 7

It is correct that Gareth Southgate gives him more chance to impress before selecting him for England. However, a magnificent display of skill in which he slid past two Liverpool players to set up a first-half chance demonstrated his talent once more.

Alejandro Garnacho – 7

Once again, United’s most threatening player on the field. Speed, cunning, a keen eye for a shot, and unwavering determination. Very strong first half, and we surged forward to force Antony’s equaliser in the second.

Bruno Fernandes – 5

He simply should not have gone down under Joe Gomez’s challenge, which resulted in Liverpool’s second goal. He whined his way into the referee’s book as a result, and a foul on Szoboszlai may have earned him a second yellow card. A peripheral figure.

Bruno Fernandes struggled as United defeated Liverpool in extra time.

Marcus Rashford – 7.

What a range of feelings. After missing a chance to win the game in the final moments of normal time, he kept his head up and scored the equalizer.

Rasmus Hojlund – 5

After four games, I’m feeling a little rusty. I didn’t get an opportunity in front of goal, so I replaced Antony.

SUBS: Antony (for Hojlund 71) – 7.

What a timely occasion this was for him. Again, he came on as a substitute and scored the equalizer three minutes later.

Harry Maguire (for Wan-Bissaka 71) – 7

When he came on, he appeared to have a steady presence.

Christian Eriksen (for Mainoo 80) – 6

This was a strange decision because Mainoo was playing well.

Amad Diallo (for Varane 85) – 8May be an image of 4 people, people playing American football, people playing football, studded shoes and text

Very unlucky to get sent off for a second yellow for removing his shirt after scoring.

Amad Diallo was sent off for taking off his shirt while celebrating his spectacular win against Mason Mount (for Lindelof 105) in a 6–6 tie. Despite being on for the first time since November, he had no impact on the game.
