Mason Mount has returned to Manchester United training after missing four months due to a calf ιnjury.
Manchester United’s £60 million signing from Chelsea has battled to establish himself at Old Trafford since joining last summer.
The England international made the last of his 12 outings for the club against Luton back in November, before being hurt in training.
Mount was expected to be back by now, but he has experienced hurdles in his rehabilitation to fitness.
However, he appears to be on the verge of a return, and he appeared to be in good spirits when he trained alongside his teammates on the Carrington pitch on Tuesday.
Manchester United gained a boost with the return to training of Mason Mount.
He was photographed walking out with Diogo Dalot and Antony, smiling broadly.
Other photos showed him sprinting alongside his teammates and doing some on-ball training, implying that he may be close to returning to play for the Red Devils.
United announced the news on their official website, stating Mount had worked hard to regain fitness and has remained happy and enthusiastic throughout his rehabilitation’.
When asked about Mount’s fitness before Saturday’s win against Everton, manager Erik ten Hag said: “Mason I believe he is in a good place right now and will return soon, possibly after the international break.
Ten Hag’s words suggest that he will miss Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final against Liverpool, but he may be available to play away to Brentford on March 30.
The 25-year-old, who was United’s first signing of last summer’s transfer window before joining Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund, has had a miserable season.
The England international has made just seven starts and five substitute appearances.
Ten Hag expects Hojlund, Harry Maguire, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka to return for United’s FA Cup quarterfinal against Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.
However, Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, Anthony Martial, and Tyrell Malacia remain unavailable to Ten Hag as the United boss prepares for the cup game and the final ten Premier League matchups of a season marred by ιnjury.
