Jeremy Doku’s tackle on Alexis MacAllister in Liverpool’s fantastic match against Manchester City is reminiscent of Nani’s red card in the C1 Cup.
True to predictions, the gallant encounter between Liverpool and Manchester City at Anfield was thrilling. “Cityzens” took the lead, but “The Kop” equalised in the second half with a 1-1 score.
The second half of the fantastic encounter featured up to 8 minutes of extra time, and when the time was only measured in seconds, a questionable ball appeared in the away team’s penalty area. Jeremy Doku stepped up to compete for the ball with Alexis Mac Allister, high-kicking the Argentine player.

However, upon checking VAR, referee Michael Oliver did not award the home team a penalty. Doku’s tackle on Allister reminded me of the incident in which former MU player Nani was barred from competing in the 2012-2013 C1 Cup. The Manchester United star collided with Alvaro Arbeloa in the air during the return leg of the 1/8 round against Real Madrid. Cuneyt Cakir, the match’s referee, instantly issued the Portuguese a red card.

Doku came on from the bench to replace Julian Alvarez in the 69th minute. Before the controversial moment at the end of the match, the Belgian international had a dangerous shot, but unfortunately the ball bounced off the goal post of “The Kop”.
