Virgil Van Dijk challenged Phil Foden during Liverpool’s 1-1 tie with Manchester City, and Foden had a hilarious response. 

Foden looked to square up to the defender who had halted him after the Liverpool centre back had fouled him.

Fans did, however, catch a funny moment where the England international realised who had tackled him and quickly backed off.

The Man City player then simply let Van Dijk go, even though he appeared visibly offended by the challenge.

With the home team leading for significant stretches of the game, Liverpool was itching for more during the second half. Liverpool controlled play even though Alexis Mac Allister’s penalty kιck equaliser in the second half pulled the team even. 

The Reds were hoping for a second penalty late into added time when Mac Allister was denied a chest-high tackle by Jeremy Doku. 

The scores ended up tied at 1-1, with Arsenal leading the Premier League at the end of the weekend despite calls from supporters and players for a penalty or even a booking.
