Antony faces a fight to salvage his Manchester United career, with the club willing to listen to cut-price transfer proposals for the £86 million disaster

ANTONY faces a fight to rescue his Manchester United career, with the club willing to listen to low-ball bids for their £86 million Brazilian.

Erik ten Hag plundered his former club Ajax for Antony, the second most expensive acquisition in United history after Paul Pogba.

Manchester United are ready to listen to low-cost proposals for dud winger Antony.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe may be ready to ring the chances after his acquisition.

However, the 24-year-old has had a difficult 20 months, with off-field troubles hurting his performance on the pitch.

And unless Antony regains form soon, United may decide to cut their losses in the summer following Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s arrival.

He returned in October but has scored no goals or assisted in his last 20 league games.

Ten Hag started 19-year-old Omari Forson against Fulham on Saturday because Rasmus Hojlund was unavailable due to injury.

And, with United trailing 1-0, the Dutch manager brought on Amad Diallo to try to save the game, with Antony coming on a minute later in the 2-1 defeat.

Ten Hag is still hoping to get the most out of a player who performed well under him at Ajax.

But, following Saturday’s game, he agreed that Diallo, Forson, and Alejandro Garnacho all deserved to play ahead of Antony.

Ten Hag stated, “It had nothing to do with fitness.” He is fit, but we have enough options on the right side, something we lack in other places owing to injuries.

“Everyone has witnessed Antony’s current form, and he needs to step up. I’ve seen it in training, but Omari [Forson], Amad Diallo, and Garnacho all deserve to play.

“He will be able to prove his point.” He has a lot of promise, even if he hasn’t shown it recently, but I know what he’s capable of, and it’s up to him to prove it.Hết chịu nổi Antony, M.U sẵn sàng cắt lỗ | Bóng Đá

“He will most likely get his opportunity, but I believe that was always the plan, and you have contests, and now he has to prove himself on the training pitch, just as others do.

“We have potential there with [Amad] Diallo returning from injury; he is performing well in training, as is Omar.

“We have options to fill in those positions, it’s not set that Marcus Rashford has to play as a centre forward.”
