Raphael Varane is in hot water with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag after posting a photo of himself at a ski resort.

Raphael Varane is facing a Man United probe over his winter break.

On Thursday, the 30-year-old French World Cup winner posted an Instagram photo of himself enjoying his free time in an unknown icy area. This week, all United players have been off.

United does not allow their players to go skiing during the season because they risk injuring themselves.

Varane tweeted a snapshot from a ski resort, even though skiing is prohibited by Manchester United.

The image solely shows the defender standing, with skiers and hills in the backdrop. When he returns to Old Trafford, he will undoubtedly be questioned.

Ten Hag, the manager, will be upset if he discovers that the center-back, who frequently gets injured, was negligent while skiing.

Most European teams do not allow winter sports because they are concerned that stars will be gravely injured.

Manuel Neuer, Bayern Munich’s custodian, shattered his leg in a bizarre accident during the Bundesliga’s winter break in 2022. He had recently returned from Germany’s dismal World Cup performance in Qatar.

In total, Neuer was out for ten months.

Varane’s agent confirmed last night that he had not skied at the lodge.

However, Varane’s situation may worsen further after moving from Real Madrid to Old Trafford for £42 million in July 2021. He’s won the Champions League four times.

There are already rumours that Varane wishes to leave United. Clubs in the Saudi Pro League and German champions Bayern Munich are both interested in signing him.

The club has one more year to add to Varane’s £340,000-a-week contract, but it expires this season.

Varane has made 18 appearances for Manchester United this season, across all categories.

The defender has gone in and out of the team. Varane was once ranked lower than Harry Maguire in the team hierarchy.

He has appeared in five of the club’s last six games, missing one due to illness.
