Journalist David Lynch provided an update on the anticipated timing of a “brilliant” Liverpool talent’s injury return.
The Reds’ 4-0 victory over Bournemouth on Sunday night in the Premier League is among their best performances to date. The team is still dominating this year. What’s even more impressive about the team that Jurgen Klopp has together is that they managed to succeed in spite of having so many injured key players.
Joel Matip is out for the remainder of the season with cruciate ligament damage, thus Liverpool had to make due without two of the best full-backs in the world in Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson, the latter of whom has been out for several months but is expected back shortly.
Ben Doak, a teenage sensation, is recovering from knee Suɾɡеɾy , Dominik Szoboszlai, a powerful midfielder, is also out, Wataru Endo and Thiago are out for the season, and Mohamed Salah and Wataru Bajcetic are away on international duty. Salah has recently returned to Liverpool for treatment on a hamstring injury.
For the Reds to have a chance in so many contests, injuries must improve during the season. A somewhat more positive update has surfaced regarding one injured player.
Date of Ben Doak’s injured return disclosed
Ben Doak, an attacker for Liverpool, may make a comeback to play in April, according to Lynch, who was takin to X after early estimations indicated he would miss the entire season due to a knee injury.
Mateusz Musialowski Ben Doak’s opinion on Liverpool
“A small update on Ben Doak’s fitness: Liverpool winger is hopeful of appearing again this season after undergoing knee Suɾɡеɾy , with an April return being tentatively targeted.”
Though his chances of making it into Scotland’s squad for Euro 2024 this summer are significantly less likely than they were prior to his injury, this is good news for Doak, who will still be hoping to force his way into the team. The 18-year-old is a highly talented attacking player; early in the season, legendary Liverpool star Sir Kenny Dalglish praised him:
“He definitely has the appearance. It will take time for him to reach his destination, so let’s not rush him. The young man has excelled at Liverpool.”
Although Doak is still a very young player and won’t likely be a regular starter for Klopp, his fearlessness and unpredictable style out wide makes him a standout option when he comes off the bench. For this reason, he could be especially helpful in Europa League and domestic cup matches. If the Scot develops his final ball skills, he has all the makings of a great football player in the long run.
When Mohamed Salah finally leaves Anfield, a lot of talk will be about replacing him. Hopefully, this won’t happen for a while, but in Doak, the Reds have someone with such a high ceiling who, depending on how he plays going forward, might even end up saving them a ton of money on a big-name signing.
