Egypt Confirms Mo Salah’s Return to Liverpool and Reveals Targeted Return Date Following AFCON Injury

Mo Salah suffered an injury during the Africa Cup of Nations, and EGYPT has confirmed that he is returning to Liverpool for rehabilitation.

The 31-year-old was substituted during the first half of Egypt’s 2-2 draw with Ghana on Thursday after going down injured.

Mo Salah sustained an injury on Thursday when playing Ghana. He was present for today’s Egypt training session, but he is now going back to Liverpool to receive treatment.

Salah had scans after sustaining a hamstring injury.

In a statement stating: “The Egyptian FA announces that Salah will now travel to England to receive treatment with the hope that he will join the Egyptian national team if it qualifies for the semi-finals,” Egypt also confirmed Salah’s return to England.

Should Egypt advance from their group, Salah will miss their next two knockout games as well as their encounter against Cape Verde.

It won’t be decided until February 11.

The Pharaohs drew their first two Afcon matches and will need to win on Monday to guarantee their spot in the round of 16.

Salah’s comeback to the team was already confirmed by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp before Egypt’s announcement.

The Reds manager responded, “If he is fit before the final then probably yes,” when asked if he might still return to the competition.

That is the strategy. I’m not sure if it has been decided upon in its entirety. Yet that’s the strategy.

“I believe that everyone understands why it makes sense for him to be in rehab with us or our staff.

That is the strategy. However, I’m not sure if it’s already set in stone.

The manager stated: “I spoke with him last night and how it is with these injuries — you need further assessment” after Salah suffered the issue.

They are currently acting in that manner, and we shall learn more later.

Naturally, there was a moment of shock: “Oh my God, what is it?”

“He felt it, but you have these kinds of hamstring injuries differently.

“And we will see because there is something, and we all know how rarely Mo goes off or needs to go off.”

Additionally, Jurgen Klopp verified Salah’s return to Liverpool.
