Mohammed Sallam was spotted holding back tears at the Afcon after being ejected with injuries.
At the stroke of halftime, the Liverpool star was substituted off the field while representing Egypt against Ghana in their group-stage match.
During Egypt’s match against Ghana, Mohamed Salah required medical attention on the field. Before collapsing, Salah was grabbing his hamstring. Salah was then taken off due to an injury. It will be a devastating blow to Liverpool and Egypt alike.
Given that the forward was holding his leg behind him before collapsing to the ground, his problem appears to be a hamstring strain.
After receiving treatment from the Egyptian medical team, Salah shook his head and left the field, looking heartbroken.
As he carefully made his way to the sidelines, teammates comforted the captain.
It’s still unknown how serious Salah’s injury is at this time.
Speaking following the 2-2 result, in which Mohammed Kudus of West Ham scored a goal each for Ghana, Egypt manager Rui Votoria announced Salah will take tests.
In his words, the Portuguese coach hoped it wouldn’t be a major issue. However, it’s [too] early to tell, so I’m not sure right now.
“I don’t think it’s that serious, but we’ll see.” Watch to see whether Salah gets better.
However, Reds manager Jurgen Klopp will be restless that night as he awaits word on his star player’s condition.
