After taking a self-portrait at a ski resort, Raphael Varane’s relationship with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is on shaky ground.
The 30-year-old French World Cup winner shared an Instagram photo of himself on Thursday, taking advantage of the free time that United players have this week, at an unidentified location covered in snow.
A Man Utd investigation is centered around Raphael Varane’s winter break. Varane shared a picture from a ski resort. even though Manchester United forbids skiing
It is known that United prohibits players from skiing during the season because of the possibility of harm.
Even if the photo merely features the defender standing there with skiers and slopes in the background, he will undoubtedly face questions when he gets back to Old Trafford.
If manager Ten Hag finds out that the injury-prone center back was careless in his skiing, he will be furious.
Most European teams have outlawed the winter activity out of concern for serious damage to its stars.
After returning from Germany’s catastrophic World Cup campaign in Qatar, goalie Manuel Neuer of Bayern Munich suffered a terrible accident during the Bundesliga winter break in 2022 that broke his leg.
Neuer missed a total of ten months of work.
Varane’s spokesman stated last night that he hadn’t been skiing at the resort.
For Varane, a four-time Champions League winner who transferred from Real Madrid to Old Trafford in July 2021 for £42 million, though, things might only get worse from here.
There have already been rumors that Varane wants to leave United, with Bayern Munich and Saudi Pro League teams showing interest.
Varane’s £340,000-per-week contract only expires this season, but the club has the option to extend it by one more year.
Varane has made 18 appearances for Manchester United this season across all competitions.
The defender has come and gone from the squad, and at one point Varane was ranked lower than Harry Maguire.
He has only missed one game due to illness and has appeared in five of the club’s last six games.
