Wayne Rooney recovered from his Birmingham City sacking by going to Old Trafford, the site of so many prior glories.
The Manchester United and England legend was fired by the Championship club on January 2 after only two wins in 15 games in charge.
Wayne Rooney and his sons were in attendance to witness Manchester United play Tottenham. At the Theatre of Dreams, he was accompanied by his wife Coleen. Rooney earned a variety of awards throughout his 13 years with Manchester United. He was seen watching from the stands seconds after Marcus Rashford made it 2-1.
The 38-year-old was appointed in October following the controversial dismissal of John Eustace, with Birmingham sitting sixth.
However, Rooney left St Andrew’s after leading the club’s slide down the table to 20th place, with a 3-0 loss to Leeds on New Year’s Day serving as his final match in charge.
After collecting his P45, the Liverpool-born great, who has previously coached Derby and DC United, promised to take a well-deserved break with his wife Coleen and their children.
And the Rooneys are having a day out this afternoon, heading to Old Trafford to witness Manchester United face Tottenham in the Premier League.
Wayne was seen heading inside the Theatre of Dreams with his boys Kai (13), Klay (10), Kit (7), and Cass (5).
Coleen was also by his side as he returned to the club where he had spent 13 years playing.
Rooney became the world’s most expensive teenager when he left Everton for United in 2004 for a £25.6 million fee.
The former striker won five Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup, the Europa League, and the League Cup four times.

He also scored 253 goals in 559 games, becoming United’s all-time leading scorer after breaking Sir Bobby Charlton’s record.
Rooney returned to Everton for a season in 2017 before joining MLS club DC United for the 2018-19 season.
He then returned to England to complete his playing career with Derby before taking over as manager and beginning his coaching career.
After leading the Rams to safety in his first season in charge, he continued to get praise the following year, when they were relegated from the Championship due to off-field unrest and a significant points deduction.
Rooney resigned after they were relegated to League One and went on to join MLS club DC United, where he spent the final years of his legendary career.
However, he struggled to make an impact in America, with only 13 wins and 26 losses in 52 games before his disastrous stint at Birmingham.
The 38-year-old was fired by Birmingham this month following only 15 games.
