Calvin Ramsay, 20, is expected to return to Liverpool after the club decided to end his one-year loan with Preston North End.
It’s only a matter of time until the Merseyside team makes the announcement, as PNE manager Ryan Lowe stated that the Reds have made the call.
“Liverpool is calling him back, but we don’t currently have any information on it.”
“He has returned to Liverpool, yes, but we are just waiting for them to make the official announcement,” Lowe told the Lancashire Post.
Despite spending £6.5 million to go from Aberdeen to Liverpool in 2022, Ramsay has had difficulty breaking into the first squad.
What is the plan now that the young right-back is returning to the team?
How does Liverpool intend to handle Calvin Ramsay?
It appears like Ramsay had some time off before returning to Liverpool, enjoying a vacation to Paris and seeing the Eiffel Tower.
There are two clear possibilities, even if Liverpool’s plans for Ramsay for the remainder of the season have not been made public.
Liverpool may choose to:
Include him once more in the first team lineup.
Return him on loan.
Given Trent Alexander-Arnold’s mild knee ligament issue, it appears likely that they will send him back out on loan, though Jurgen Klopp could prefer to keep him in the lineup.
Conor Bradley performed admirably in his job as the Reds overcame a goal deficit to defeat Fulham 2-1 in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final, despite the 25-year-old suffering a small lateral ligament tear against Arsenal.
It has been difficult for Bradley to get regular game action. Similar to Fabio Carvalho, he has only played 120 minutes of football this season, thus his loan term has not gone as planned.
That would be like a cup tie that went into overtime.
That’s just not enough game time for a 20-year-old who wants to grow and develop.
Ramsay is the sixth player that Liverpool has recalled from a loan period this season; the club is waiting for them to “officially announce” the transfer.
Clearly the management staff is not satisfied with how its youth players are being offered opportunities and with their development vitally crucial to Liverpool, action has been taken to guarantee the 2023/24 season doesn’t mark a period of stagnation for the club’s intriguing young players.
If Ramsay stays at Liverpool for the remainder of the season, there is very little likelihood that he will play frequently enough. Hopefully, he can get the game time he needs during another loan period.
