Nasser Al-Khelaifi turned angel and expressed his desire to keep Kylian Mbappe at PSG

In an interview with RMC Sport on Tuesday, Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al Khelaïfi reaffirmed his desire for Kylian Mbappé to remain with the team once his contract expires in June.

“You see, I’m not attempting to conceal anything. I want PSG to retain Kylian Mbappé. Al Khelaïfi stated on the Rothen s’enflamme RMC podcast, “He’s the best player in the world, and PSG is the best club for him.” “He is central to our project.”

According to sources who spoke with ESPN on Monday, Mbappé will make a decision regarding his club future in the coming weeks. If he decides to leave the French capital, Real Madrid and Liverpool are his most likely destinations.

The club’s record goal scorer, Kylian Mbappé, is still much desired by PSG. Under the Bosman judgment, he will not exercise his option for a one-year extension, therefore he is free to discuss a summer move with other teams.

The team that has been most strongly linked, Real Madrid, has already stated that they want the France international to make a choice quickly. This follows their 2022 experience, during which they engaged in protracted talks with Mbappé before the forward ultimately made the decision to remain in Paris.

Al Khelaïfi was adamant that he wanted the team to continue to succeed.

“We have done a lot of things, some have worked more than others,” he stated. “It’s normal that we have made mistakes. We currently have a young team with French players, and we have the long term in mind. We are not in a rush. Our playing system has been adjusted, and we have assembled a team that is enjoyable to watch. They are strong technically. It’s amazing how well we play and defend as a team.”

Despite rumors circulating in France on Monday that Mbappé has decided to join Real Madrid, sources close to ESPN have stated that no deal has been finalized but communication between the two parties is still ongoing.

Last week, Mbappé stated that while he hasn’t decided to go, PSG would be financially secure even if he did so on a free transfer. The club has also decided not to pay a hefty loyalty bonus, estimated to be worth €80 million, should he depart.
