Many teams in college basketball had a big weekend as conference play finally began. The USC Trojans traveled north to play games against Oregon and Oregon State. Bronny James, who returned to the court this month after a cardiac scare, is still getting up to speed for USC. On Saturday, he had his greatest game of the season so far against Oregon State, triggering a flood of reactions, including one from his father, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James.
USC did lose the game to Oregon State, 86-70, but Bronny James finished with 15 points, one rebound, three assists, and one steal in 20 minutes. He went 6-11 from the field, 2-6 from three points, and made his sole free throw.
On December 10, James made his NCAA debut against Long Beach State. In 16 minutes, he had four points, three rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one blocked shot. He has appeared in five games for USC, averaging 7.0 points per game, 2.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.2 steals while shooting 46.2 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from the three-point line, and 71.4 percent from the free throw line.
James has long been regarded as a one-and-done college basketball prospect. His father, LeBron James, has frequently stated his desire to play in the NBA for at least one season as a teammate. Following this season, when LeBron has a player option on his contract, James will be eligible for the NBA Draft.
