Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund are currently engaged in negotiations regarding a potential loan deal for Jadon Sancho to return to the Bundesliga club. The talented winger is eager to make the move after being without game time for over four months.
The discussions primarily focus on determining a loan fee and salary coverage. A temporary transfer seems to be the only viable option for Dortmund, who previously sold Sancho to United for an initial fee of £73 million in July 2021. Since effectively accusing Erik ten Hag of dishonesty in early September, Sancho has been sidelined and has not featured in any matches for United. The manager has demanded an apology from the 23-year-old and has kept him isolated from the first-team squad.
Sancho’s omission from the lineup during the 3-1 defeat against Arsenal was attributed by Ten Hag to the player’s failure to meet the required training standards. However, Sancho took to social media shortly after, dismissing this explanation as “completely untrue” and claiming that he was being made a scapegoat.
The talented winger believes that returning to Dortmund would provide an ideal environment for him to rediscover his best form. He had a successful stint at the club in the three seasons prior to his transfer to United, scoring 50 goals and providing 64 assists in 137 appearances. Dortmund, currently in fifth place in the Bundesliga, have identified Sancho and a left-back as their top priorities for the January transfer window.
