Mason Greenwood is coveted by Barcelona for a fee of £40 million.
However, it has been without an owner since Fati moved on loan to Brighton in September of this year.
Barcelona now aims to use it to enable Greenwood, who was born in Bradford, to join the Nou Camp and construct an impressive new squad.
Greenwood is resuming his career after deciding it was time to leave United.
The striker was charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behavior, and assault inflicting actual bodily damage before their discharge in February.
Greenwood is making an impression with Getafe in LaLiga.
Despite their research, United was eager to have him back on the team.
He changed his mind about the plan in August amid protests, and he went for Getafe without having played in 18 months.
There is still a potential that Greenwood will return to United, but it seems unlikely.
