Lewandowski: It’s time to learn from Ronaldo, don’t learn from Messi

Robert Lewandowski is a big problem for Barca. He is old, but does not know his strength, because he plays many roles, leading to a decline in performance. Perhaps it’s time for Lewy to look to Cristiano Ronaldo and learn.

Robert Lewandowski won the La Liga “Top Scorer” award last season with 23 goals. This season, he is also Barca’s top scorer after 17 rounds with 8 goals. However, those impressive numbers are not enough to make those who love the Catalan team less concerned about the Polish player.

In fact, Lewandowski’s performance this season is very disappointing. What is worth mentioning is the imbalance in Lewy’s scoring style. In the 20 matches that the Polish player has appeared in Barca’s squad from the beginning of the season until now in all competitions, there have only been 7 matches where he “fired”. In the remaining 13 matches, his teammates had to shoulder the responsibility of scoring goals for him.

It is worth mentioning that Barca currently has only Lewandowski as the center striker. Therefore, even when Lewy was not in good form, coach Xavi was still reluctant to let him play from the beginning. This explains why Barca scored the fewest goals among the teams in the Top 4.

Surely many Culé are wondering why Lewandowski has such a decline. The answer lies in Lewy’s way of playing. Under the guidance of coach Xavi, the Polish player is “demanded” too much. He almost does it all, from dribbling, passing people, running to attract the attention of opposing players, even creating assists…, and then finally finishing.

Lewandowski is 35 years old this year. Working at full capacity, in so many roles, makes him lose strength very quickly. That’s the reason why Lewy often runs out of breath in the second half of the second half and plays less good matches than bad matches this season. In other words, Lewandowski forgot one thing: age does not allow him to be as aggressive as before.

Lewandowski should look at Lionel Messi as a terrible example to avoid. After joining Inter Miami Club in July this year, the Argentine superstar played continuously non-stop for more than 10 matches. At the age of 36, he almost single-handedly “carried the team”, scoring goals, creating assists, keeping pace with the match…, helping the home team advance to the CONCACAF Leagues Cup 2023 championship. However, after that, Messi overloaded and continuously absent from the MLS tournament.

Obviously, Lewandowski should not imitate Messi’s all-or-nothing style. Perhaps the Polish striker should know how to be self-reliant and learn from Cristiano Ronaldo.

After leaving MU to go to Saudi Arabia to join Al Nassr Club, Ronaldo changed his playing style to suit his 38 year old age. From CR7, he moved to the role of… CR9. That means Ronaldo plays the role of a true striker. He mainly “hangs in a hammock” in the opponent’s penalty area, waits for opportunities, and then launches shots. Thanks to playing with little effort, Ronaldo has continuously scored goals recently for Al Nassr.

It’s time for Lewandowski to learn from Ronaldo and stop taking charge of everything at Barca. You should spend the remaining energy on what you do best, which is scoring goals!
