Quintino Aires, the host of CMTV channel, recently lost his job for “crossing the line,” following his aggressive actions and even disparaging remarks against Georgina Rodriguez, the partner of Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo.
Recently, Cristiano Ronaldo earned widespread admiration by becoming a television mogul through a substantial investment of 56.8 million euros. Specifically, the Al Nassr forward in the Saudi Arabian league purchased the COFINA media group, one of the renowned conglomerates in his native Portugal.
Due to his busy training and playing schedule, Ronaldo delegated the project’s completion to one of his most trusted associates, Miguel Paixao. COFINA currently controls CMTV, the most-watched cable television channel in Portugal, and Correio da Manha, a widely-read newspaper in the country. In other words, as a major shareholder in COFINA, Ronaldo has become one of the most powerful figures in Portugal.
Ronaldo and his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez recently made headlines again through the dismissal of Quintino Aires, the host of CMTV. According to the recent issue of A Bola newspaper, Quintino Aires sharply criticized Georgina on the live entertainment program “Star Night” broadcast on CMTV.
Showing no restraint towards Ronaldo, Quintino attacked and even belittled Georgina as “just the woman Ronaldo pays a salary to,” among other disparaging remarks. As a consequence, Quintino was fired by CMTV on the grounds of “professional ethics violation.”
