‘Confirm’: Klopp’s crucial player ruled out of Manchester United clash on Sunday

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that midfielder Alexis MacAllister will miss the Reds’ Premier League match against Manchester United on Sunday.

The Argentine international is now out after suffering an injury in last Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Sheffield United.

Mac Allister suffered a cut on his knee and originally played on with it bandaged up before being taken off in the 59th minute and replaced by Curtis Jones.

After missing Saturday’s win over Crystal Palace, Mac Allister will now miss games against Union Saint-Gilloise and Manchester United.

Klopp revealed the player’s condition is more serious than it appeared before of Thursday’s Europa League match against Union SG.

Chấn thương phức tạp, Mac Allister chưa hẹn ngày trở lại

“I am obviously not a doctor, but they explain to me pretty much every day why he is not ready yet, and it is obviously a bit more tricky than we thought in the first moment,” Liverpool manager Klopp told reporters.

“The other kid stepped on his knee, and the stud went through the muscle and onto the bone.” And now we have to wait until the bone heals and Macca can deal with the pain, which is excruciating.

“Macca is a tough guy, so we’ll probably have to make sure nothing bad happens from an infection standpoint.” That is extremely crucial.

“I’ve never had this injury happen to one of my players before, but now we do.” I hope it doesn’t take that long; I’d like to say day by day, but it would imply he may possibly play the next game, but he won’t be ready for that either. So, I’m hoping he takes major steps in the next three or four days, and then we’ll see.”

Joel Matip, Andrew Robertson, Stefan Bajcetic, Thiago Alcantara, and Diogo Jota join Mac Allister on the bench.

Alisson Becker, Virgil Van Dijk, Trent Alexander Arnold, and Mohamed Salah have also been rested for Thursday’s dead-rubber against Union SG.

With Liverpool already assured of first place in Group E, Klopp has his sights set on Sunday’s Premier League clash with Manchester United.

The Merseyside club will enter the weekend as league leaders, having collected 37 points from 16 league games.
